Asian works of art

Uppsala Auktionskammare realized at an early stage that the market for Chinese and Asian objects was growing rapidly.

Hence the focus on this department is an effect of our desire to take care of our clients interests. Uppsala Auktionskammare produce a separate printed catalogue for the Asian Sale, exhibiting at major antique fairs in Hong Kong and with a separate Asian Sale twice a year.

Uppsala Auktionskammare has Chinese staff speaking Mandarin with our Chinese clients during the viewings and at the auctions. Our marketing efforts in the Asian department has provided a large clientele of buyers, particularly in China but also in Europe and in the U.S. Our auctions have become known worldwide.

To assist us in assessments and valuations of Chinese porcelain and Asian art, we have a number of international external experts who visit us several times every season.

Our Chinese clients, whether they live in China or elsewhere, seek items made for the Chinese market, the “Chinese taste”. The provenance affects prices and many works of art comes from well-known old Swedish collections. There is a high demand for objects with mark and period, objects of jade, old bronzes, Buddhas, porcelain, glass paintings, drawings and scrolls.

The market for Chinese porcelain and Asian art is growing. Since 2015 Uppsala Auktionskammare has sold Chinese and Asian works of art for more than SEK 100 million.
