9 – 12 November 2021
This season’s Modern & Contemporary Sale is the most prestigious in the history of Uppsala Auktionskammare. The catalogue presents two fantastic private collections: “An Important Private Collection – including Wesselmann, Christo and Fontana” with international art and design and “The Gerschman Collection” where masterpieces by the Swedish modernists Sigrid Hjertén, Leander Engström and Einar Jolin are included as well as important international art, such as works by Charles Camoin, Albert Marquet and André Lhote.
The auction offers a magnificent international art department with colourful compositions by Jean-Paul Riopelle and André Lanskoy, as well as exciting works by Donald Baechler, Vilhelm Bjerke-Petersen, Karel Appel, Andy Warhol, Tadeusz Kantor, Fernandez Arman and Jan Tarasin to name a few. The impressive design department includes several of Scandinavia’s foremost designers. Particularly distinctive are Axel Einar Hjorth’s pine furniture from various series, Josef Frank’s iconic cabinet “Flora” and a spectacular collection of ceramics by Pablo Picasso.
